The National Organic standards Board passed the following definition of Organic in April 1995. " Organic agriculture is an ecological production management system that promotes and enhances biodiversity, biological cycles and soil biological activity. It is based on minimal use of off-farm inputs and on-management practices that restore, maintain and enhance ecological harmony" |
The compost pile is a very important aspect of the farms dynamics |
In order to sell, label or represent products as "Organic", the U.S. Department of Agriculture requires certification through an accredited certifier. Certification includes meeting third party or state certification requirements along with on-site physical inspections.
The National Organic Standards Board of Directors vision statement is:
To create agricultural communities rooted in organic principles and values that instills trust among consumers, producers, processors, retailers, and other stake holders. Consistent and sustainable organic standards guard and advance the integrity of organic products and practices.
Osage Gardens is excited to be apart of this vision and play its part in making our state a better place to live.
